Confidentiality

Confidentiality is the cornerstone of the therapeutic and supervisory relationship. Therefore the content discussed in each session is confidential. However, in order to maintain ethical and effective practice it is incumbent upon every practitioner within the field to discuss their clinical work with a senior practitioner, known as a Clinical Supervisor. This is done in such as way as to protect the client's identity and anonymity.

In rare and exceptional circumstances therapists are required by law to extent confidentiality to include other relevant professionals when a client is of serious risk of harm to themselves and/or another or others. Every attempt would be made to discuss this with the client beforehand, and is also carried out under professional guidance.
