Bruce Springsteen's 'Nebraska' (1982) was written and recorded in his home in New Jersey. His muse for the album was the biography of Caril Ann Fugate and Terrence Mallick's film 'Badlands' (1973) that chronicled the brutal murders by Charles Starkweather and Caril Ann Fugate in Nebraska and Wyoming in the late 1950s. On watching 'Deliver Me from Nowhere' (2025), starring Jeremy Allen White, it is plain to see that the poverty and violence that Springsteen grew up with that 'Badlands' was an echo chamber for his own trauma and pain. That poverty is an instrument of psychological murder that can lead to Domestic Violence and literal murder.
